Polycarbonate (PC) is a polymer containing carbonate group in the molecular chain. According to the structure of the ester group, it can be divided into aliphatic, aromatic, aliphatic – aromatic and other types. The low mechanical properties of aliphatic and aliphatic aromatic polycarbonate limit their application in engineering plastics. Only aromatic polycarbonate has been industrially produced.  Due to the particularity of polycarbonate structure, PC has become the general engineering plastics with the fastest growth rate among the five engineering plastics.

PC is not resistant to ultraviolet light, strong alkali, and scratch. It turns yellow with long-term exposure to ultraviolet.  Therefore, the need for modified additives is essential.
