Anyone involved in agricultural film plastic processing probably knows that the vast majority of UV absorbers on the market serve a rather single function—they basically only guard against UV aging. But UV1084 is different. Its greatest advantage lies in its comprehensive capability: it doesn't just offer a single type of protection. Instead, it combines two core functions in one—acting as both a light stabilizer and an antioxidant.

UV1084 precisely absorbs ultraviolet radiation in the 270–330 nm wavelength range, the primary cause of photoaging in polyolefin materials. After absorbing UV energy, UV1084 rapidly converts the high-energy light into harmless heat and dissipates it through an energy transfer mechanism centered on its nickel component, thereby blocking the damage UV radiation inflicts on polymer molecular chains. Moreover, UV1084's molecular structure contains thio-bisphenol segments, endowing it with inherent antioxidant functionality. This means a single product can simultaneously provide dual protection—light stabilization and antioxidation—directly tackling the two major industry challenges of light-induced aging and oxidative aging.
Additionally, UV1084 exhibits excellent chelating effects with dyes. Simply put, it can stably bind with pigment and dye components in polyolefin materials to form robust complex structures. This not only makes the product's colors more vivid and saturated but also firmly locks in the pigments, preventing color loss, fading, and a worn appearance, making it highly suitable for the production and processing of colored film products.
Agricultural films are exposed outdoors for extended periods and come into frequent contact with various pesticides and acidic rainwater. Ordinary stabilizers are alkaline in nature and are prone to neutralization and failure in acidic environments, struggling to withstand such chemical erosion, with their protective efficacy rapidly deteriorating. UV1084, however, contains no free alkaline groups. At the same time, it can react with intrusive active sulfur to form stable nickel sulfide, granting it outstanding acid resistance and resistance to sulfur fumigation. Even under the harsh chemical corrosion conditions of field environments, it can continuously and stably provide UV protection, effectively delaying the degradation and aging of agricultural films and safeguarding crop growth over the long term.

In the processing and production stages, UV1084 also addresses a key pain point for many manufacturers. Processes such as extrusion pelletizing and injection molding of polyolefin products require high-temperature conditions. UV1084 has a melting point reaching 245–280°C and possesses excellent thermal stability, making it fully compatible with high-temperature processing conditions. It can effectively preserve the initial color of the products, preventing the finished goods from darkening and suffering damage to their appearance, thereby stabilizing product quality.
Furthermore, UV1084's compatibility and synergistic effects are also outstanding. It has excellent compatibility with various stabilizers, and especially when used in combination with conventional UV absorbers like UV531, it produces a significant synergistic enhancement, substantially upgrading the weatherability protection of the product. This is also the key reason why agricultural films, artificial turf, and other plastic products intended for long-term outdoor use can effectively extend their service life and withstand sun and rain exposure.
